Huomenta päivää
Mie oon Mikko Vanhanen, toisen vuoden automaation ja robotiikan opiskelija. Hurahdin Otaniemen menoon ja meininkiin heti fuksivuoden orientaatioviikolla. AS kiltana ja yhteisönä on ollut aivan mahtava tuki ja turva ensimmäisestä viikosta lähtien ja on ollut mainiota olla osana sitä. Olen koko yliopistoajan haastanut itseäni jatkuvasti suuremmilla ja ISOmmilla hommilla ja nyt sellaisena askeleena toimii tämä hakemus killan ISOpomoksi vuodelle 2024.
On itsestään selvää jokaiselle, että ISOt ovat äärimmäisen tärkeitä fuksien viihtyvyyden kannalta, mutta niin he ovat myös tärkeitä killalle. Hyvissä fiiliksissä olevat ja hyvin tiedotetut ISOt luovat suoraan hyvän ympäristön fukseille, mistä he voivat aloittaa opiskeluelämän ja osallistua killan erinäiseen toimintaan. Täten ISOt ansaitsevat parhaimmat mahdolliset eväät (ja virkistykset) jaksaakseen toimia läpi vuoden, ja kuka muukaan sopisi tähän työtehtävään kuin toiminnasta innostunut ja kokenut meikäpoika.
Sovin ISOpomon rooliin erittäin hyvin huolellisuuteni ja rentouden takia, puhumattakaan innostuneisuudestani kiltatoimintaa, ISOilua ja tapahtumajärkkäämistä kohtaan. Viimeisen vuoden aikana olen saanut hyvän käsityksen ASPUn ja ISOpomon työnteosta Tosi-ISOilun kautta (ja totta kai ISOilusta ollessani ISO). Tiedän mitä vaaditaan tiedotukseen, ISOrekryyn ja -koulutukseen, tapahtumien järkkäämiseen ja muihin pestin hommiin. Haluan jatkaa viime vuosien mahtavasti vedettyä ISOpomoilua mitä itsekin olen päässyt seuraamaan. Mutta minkään pestin tai vastuun ei tarvitse olla kiveen hakattu, ja minulla on muutama parannusehdotus, joita ASPUssa haluaisin viedä eteenpäin ISOpomon pestin kautta.
Kaikista tärkeimpänä pidän monipuolisempien tapahtumien järjestämistä. Nykyiseltään tapahtumat tuppaavat olemaan helposti hyvin alkoholipitoisia ja koko illan kestäviä aktiviteetteja. Näiden vastapainoksi haluaisin lisätä rennompia, juuri alkoholittomia, pienemmän kynnyksen tapahtumia (huom. Jo pidettäviä tapahtumia ei mitenkään muutettaisi tai poistettaisi, vaan nämä olisivat vain ekstraa). Näiden mahdollistamiseksi haluaisin lisätä yhteistyötä ASPUn ja muiden toimikuntien välillä, varsinkin liikunta- ja kulttuuritoimikuntien.
ISOpomoilun tekisin reippaalla, mutta rennolla meiningillä. ISOt ansaitsevat kaikkea parasta jaksaakseen pitää mainion viban yllä koko vuoden. Siten haluan sitoutua järjestämään heille monipuolisia tapahtumia sekä oman että muiden kiltojen kanssa ASPUN ja ITMK:n kautta. Tavoitteenani olisi luoda mahdollisimman avoin ilmapiiri kaikille; fuksit tuntisivat olevansa osa kiltaa ja laajempaa teekkariyhteisöä mahdollisimman nopeasti ja ISOt pystyisivät tekemään toiminnastaan omannäköistä.

I’m Mikko Vanhanen, a second year automation and robotics student. I fell in love with Otaniemi’s vibe and atmosphere right away during the orientation week of my fuksi year. AS as a guild and as a community has been a great support and boon from the very first week and it has been an amazing experience to have been and continue to be part of it. Throughout my time at Aalto, I have constantly challenged myself with larger and larger tasks and responsibilites and now for such next step serves this application for the guild’s ISOboss for the year 2024.
It goes without saying for everyone that ISOs are extremely important for the well-being of the fuksis, but so are they important for the guild. ISOs that are in good spirits and well informed directly create a good environment for fuksis from where they can begin their student life and participate in the various activities of the guild. Thus, ISOs deserve the best possible foundation (and refreshments) to keep them going throughout the year, and who’s better suited for the job than enthusiastic and experienced good ‘ol me.
I fit right in to the role of ISOboss because of my diligence and relaxed attitude, not to mention my enthusiasm for guild activities, ISOing and event planning. Over the past year, I have gained a good understanding of the work that ASPU and ISOboss does through being a Tosi-ISO (and of course a good understanding of tutoring through being an ISO). I know what’s needed for the communication, recruitment and training of ISOs, event organizing, and for the other tasks of the ISOboss. I want to continue the awesome work of the last ISObosses that I have been able to see myself. But no job’s tasks or responsibilities should be set in stone and there are a few things I’d like to improve upon that I would like to drive forward in ASPU as an ISOboss.
Most important of all, for me, is to organize more diverse events. As it stands, events tend to steer easily into the alcoholic side and be all-night activities. To counterbalance these, I would like to add more relaxed, lower threshold events (note: events already being held would in no way be changed or removed, these would just be extras). To make these possible, I would like to see more cooperation between ASPU and the other committees, especially the sports and culture committees.
I would work with an upbeat but relaxed attitude. ISOs deserve all the best to keep up the good vibe all year round. As such, I want to commit myself to organizing a variety of events for them, both within our own guild and with the other guilds through ASPU and ITMK. My goal would be to create as open an atmosphere as possible for everyone; fuksis would feel part of the guild and the larger teekkari community as quickly as possible and ISOs would be able to make their work look like them.
