Heipsutarallaa!
Meikäläinen on Kurkisen Eetu, opiskelen tokaa vuotta IT:llä, fuksi vm. '22 ja oon
hakemassa vuoden 2024 ISOpomoksi. Tällä hetkellä toimin killassa vAStuu-ISOna
sekä stikkerisällinä “:D”
Miksi ISOpomoksi?
Omana fuksivuonnani tulin kolunneeksi tapahtumia ISOlla urakalla läpi ja
pääsin helposti tutustumaan teekkari- ja kiltakulttuuriin sekä mahtaviin
tyyppeihin niin AS:ltä kuin muistakin killoista. Ainakin omilla ISOillani oli
valtava rooli Eetu-fuksin innostamisessa ja rohkaisemisessa lähteä kokeilemaan
uutta ja auttaa löytämään mielekästä tekemistä Otaniemestä.
Jotta mahdollisimman moni tuleva fuksi pääsisi kokemaan samanlaista iloa kuin
allekirjoittanut, on tärkeää että ISOilla on hyvä olla, koska onnelliset ISOt = onnelliset fuksit.
Itselleni suuri motivaattori juuri tähän pestiin hakemiselle on tapahtumien
järkkääminen ISOille. Varmistaisin siis, että ISOille järjestettäisiin yhtä hyvin
virkistystoimintaa kuin tähänkin mennessä. Tupsusyksyn aikana olenkin ollut töissä/järjestelyhommissa
monissa tapahtumissa ja nykyään pidän jopa enemmän vapaaehtoishommista kuin
itse tapahtumaan osallistumisesta. Lisäksi kippareilla on välillä megaISO kiire,
joten olisin valmis tarjoamaan apustavaa kättäni kaikkeen vastaantulevaan. Kaikki
kipparihakijat on mahtavia tyyppejä, joten yhteistyö luonnistuisi varmasti helposti!
Sitten vielä yksi kehitysehdotus killan ISOtoimintaan: monen ISOryhmän toiminta
haihtuu pois maailmankartalta orientaatioviikon perjantaina, eikä tämä tietenkään
palvele fukseja, varsinkaan heitä jotka eivät ole päässeet osallistumaan orientaatioviikolle.
ISOt voisivat siis järjestää omalle ryhmälleen enemmän ryhmän keskinäisiä tapaamisia,
joihin olisi matalampi kynnys osallistua kuin suuriin tapahtumiin, jos omaa kaveriporukkaa
ei ole vielä syntynyt.
Miksi minä?
Olen mielestäni järjestelmällinen ja mulla on tekemisessä pilkettä silmäkulmassa. Tykkään
myös tehdä vapaaehtoishommia - mikään ammattilainen en vielä ole, mutta olen valmis
ja innokas oppimaan uusia ISOja juttuja ja täten mahdollistamaan mukavan olon ISOille
ja sitä kautta myös fukseillekin.

Hello there!
I’m Eetu Kurkinen, a second-year IT-student (freshman '22), and I’m applying to be the ISOboss for the year 2024. Currently, I’m a responsible-ISO and a sticker guy “:D”.
Why ISOboss?
During my own freshman year, I enthusiastically participated in numerous events with the guidance of my own ISOs, which allowed me to get familiar with teekkari culture and our guild, as well as meeting amazing people from AS and other guilds. At least in my own experience, the ISOs played a significant role in encouraging and motivating me to try new things and find enjoyable activities in Otaniemi. To ensure that as many future freshmen as possible experience the same joy as I did, it is crucial that the ISOs are in good hands because happy ISOs = happy freshmen.
A significant motivator for me in applying for this position is organizing events for the ISOs. Therefore, I would ensure that the ISOs are provided with equally great activities as before. During this autumn, I have been involved in working/organizing many events, and nowadays, I even prefer volunteering to participating in the events themselves. Additionally, the captains occasionally have a lot on their plate, so I would be ready to offer my help in whatever comes on the way. All captain applicants are amazing people, so collaboration would undoubtedly be easy!
Now, here’s a suggestion for the guild’s ISO activities: the activity of many ISO groups become non-existent after the Friday of orientation week, and of course, this does not serve the freshmen, especially those who have not been able to participate in orientation week. Therefore, the ISOs could organize more group meetings for their own group, with a lower threshold for participation than large events, especially for those who haven’t yet formed their own group of friends.
Why me?
I consider myself organized, and I like to approach work with a positive and relaxed attitude. I also enjoy doing volunteer work – I’m not a professional yet, but I am ready and eager to learn new BIG things and thereby ensure a comfortable atmosphere for the ISOs and, consequently, for the freshmen as well.
