Me ollaan Saku ja Sara, ja tultiin kertoon teille miten kovasti me halutaan AS:n fuksikapteeneiksi vuodelle 2026!!! Jotkut ehkä saattaa jo tunteakin, mutta niille jotka ei, niin tässäpä ketä me ollaan pähkinänkuoressa:
Saku
Heimoi! Mä oon Saku, toisen vuoden IT-opiskelija sekä AS:n rahastonhoitaja vuosimallia 2025 (ynnä sun muuta :D). Kun mä saavuin tähän kiltaan reilu vuosi sitten, takana oli yks elämäni vaikeimmista vuosista. Nyt tätä hakemusta kirjoittaessani mulla on takana mun elämäni yksiselitteisesti parAS vuosi, ja tuntuu et mä löydän edelleen joka ikisestä päivästä auringonvaloa, rakkautta ja lukemattomia syitä hymyillä elämälle takaisin.
AS imaisi mut mukaan jo alkumetreiltä; jo ATP:hen mennessä tiesin varmaksi että mun täytyi hakea fuksina hallitukseen, ja Liukkarin jälkeen kuudelta aamulla parkkipaikalla seistessäni viiden TUhannen Vakoon menevän artikkelin kanssa en voinut kuvitellakaan enää että EN hakis kippariks tänä vuonna. Mun suurin motivaatio tähän tehtävään hakemisen taustalla onkin just se, et jos fuksivuodella olisi edes yhdelle fuksille niin suuri merkitys kuin mulle, niin voisin sanoa suoriutuneeni tehtävästä kunnialla.
TLDR: AS on antanut mulle kaiken, ja haluun antaa kaikkeni takAS <3!
Miks Sara?: Aina mistä fuksivuonna itseni löysin, kuten myös sieltä missä en itse ollut, löytyi Sara. Yksi kovimpia tekijöitä '24 fukseista, vaikkei moni sitä ehkä osaisi arvata; meissä on paljon samaa, mutta ollaan myös just oikeassa määrin erilaisia ja siks en voisi kuvitella parempaa kippariparia.
Sara
Moikka, mä oon Sara, toisen vuoden automaation ja robotiikan opiskelija. Fuksivuosi nappasi mut heti alusta mukaansa ja oli yksi elämäni parhaista vuosista. Tuntui että joka päivä toi tullessaan uusia ystäviä ja kokemuksia, ja samalla opin, miten valtava merkitys killalla ja yhteisöllä voi olla. Sen ansiosta löysin paikan, jossa voin olla täysin oma itseni.
ISOna toimiminen on ollut ihan huippua. On ollut hienoa auttaa fukseja, vastata heidän kysymyksiinsä ja nähdä heidän viihtyvän. Haalariseikkailussa oli mahtavaa pitää rastia ja olla osana heidän matkaa. Omien kipparieni tuki ja energia inspiroivat mua valtavasti, ja olisi hienoa päästä nyt itse välittämään samaa fiilistä uusille fukseille. Kipparina haluan luoda turvallisen, mutta samalla innostavan ja energisen ympäristön, jossa jokainen fuksi saa mahdollisuuden löytää oman porukkansa ja kokea unohtumattoman vuoden.
Miksi Saku?: Jo Liukuhihnaa tehdessä huomasin, että Saku hoitaa hommat varmalla otteella ja hyvällä fiiliksellä. Se kertoo paljon hänen tavastaan toimia tehokkaasti, ja juuri siksi hänen rinnallaan
voi luottaa siihen, että asiat tulevat hoidetuksi. Meidän vahvuudet täydentävät toisiaan sopivasti, ja siksi uskon, että yhdessä meistä tulisi tasapainoinen ja toimiva kipparipari.
Mitä me halutaan kippareina tehdä!?
Meidän mielestä fuksikapteenien tärkein ja perimmäisin tehtävä on huolehtia siitä, että jokaiselle löytyisi oma paikka Otaniemessä, ja tämä ei välttämättä tarkoita pelkästään kiltaa. Monelle fuksille ne ekat päivät/viikot on niitä kaikista vaikeimpia, ja halutaan olla ne kuvaannolliset portaat jolla mahdollisimman moni pääsis sen kynnyksen yli. Lisäksi on tärkeää, että yhteisöön pääsee ujuttautumaan mukaan siitä huolimatta, ettei syystä tai toisesta pääse paikalle varASlähtöön/orientaatioviikolle. Tämä ei kuitenkaan tarkoita sitä, että jo muodostuneita kaveriporukoita tulisi sekoittaa joka ikiseen tapahtumaan, mutta sellainen henkilökohtaisempi lähestymistapa palvelisi parhaiten tätä tarkoitusperää, eli siis kannustettaisiin ihan jokaista pitämään huoli toisistaan, ja kohtaamaan uudetkin ihmiset ennakkoluulottomasti ja innolla.
Tutustuttaminen teekkari- ja opiskelijakulttuuriin on heti vahvana hännillä, ja tässä koetaan, että tää toimisi parhaiten laajentamalla tätä piiriä pitkin vuotta: Ekoilla viikoilla fuksit tutustuu lähinnä siihen omaan fuksiryhmään/kiltalaisiin, mutta orientaatioviikon jälkeen on hyvä alkaa tutustumaan laajemmin myös muihin Otaniemen kiltoihin. Lisäksi viime vuosina monelle fuksille on varmasti jäänyt ehkä hieman epäselväksi meidän muiden pääkaupunkiseudun ystävyysjärjestöjen olemassaolo; kulttuuritoimikunnan järjestämien koko killan tapahtumien lisäksi olis sika siistiä, jos vuoden aikana olisi myös yhteisiä fuksitapahtumia Kannunvalajien ja T(ee)Y(y)T(ee):n kanssa. Haluttaisi siis laajentaa fuksitoimintaa myös Otaniemen ulkopuoliseksi ja poikkitieteelliseksi!
Mites sit ASPU? Meidän mielestä Kalle ja Joel on tänä vuonna lähtenyt kehittään ASPUa just oikeeseen suuntaan. On tosi tärkeää, että näin vastuullisessa toimariroolissa oleville jaetaan kaikki data avoimesti ja salailematta, ja että koko toimikunta pääsee osallistumaan päätöksentekoon, ja kaikille löytyy tekemistä. Kriittistä on myös, että toimaritaakka jakautuu tasaisesti sitä tarvitseville, eli että DSDeputylle löytyy myös joku apukäsi fuksiaAsistenteista: Onhan DSD-opiskelijoidenkin määrä edelleen kasvussa.
DSD:stä puheen ollen, koetaan että on edelleen tarve saada enemmän matalan kynnyksen rentoja kv x suomi -tapahtumia killan fukseille. Esimerkiksi ASIC:n Afterparty Pre-partyn kaltaisia tapahtumia voisi olla ainakin yksi lisää, sillä rento chillaus ja leikkimielisen kilpailullinen toiminta tukee just sellaista kielten välistä tutustumista, ja meidän mielestä AS:llä on vielä kehitettävää sillä saralla (:D).
Loppupeleissä me haetaan näinkin ISOon vastuuhomman sen takia, että meidän mielestä AS on aivan huippu, teekkarikulttuuri on ihan parasta ja se on nimenomaan fuksikippareiden tehtävä antaa jokaiselle se vuoden mittainen sysäys jonka avulla aivan jokainen fuksi pääsis ottamaan kaiken irti opiskeluvuosistaan!

We’re Saku & Sara, and we’d like to tell you all how passionate we are about becoming the Fuksi Captains of AS-Guild for 2026!!! Some of you might know better than others, so here’s us in a nutshell:
Saku
Hey all! My name is Saku, I’m a 2nd year IT-student and the current Treasurer of AS (plus a few other things :D). When I arrived to AS a bit over a year ago, I’d gone through one of the hardest years of my life. AS I’m writing this, I can say for certain that that previous year has been easily the best year of my life, and it feels like the sun is shining all the time, and life keeps smiling all the time, and it’s hard not to smile back.
AS became like a home to me at once; even before ATP last year, I knew I had to apply to the board as a fuksi, and it took until after Liukuhihna had finished to know with certainty that I couldn’t imagine myself NOT applying to be a captain this year. My greatest motivation for this applying to this position is that if the fuksi year would have the kind of an impact on even one fuksi, then I could be confident that I would have done my duty well. Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right
TLDR: AS has given to me everything, and I’d like to give my all in return <3
Why Sara?: Wherever I found myself during my fuksi year, and also where I wasn’t, you would’ve found Sara there. She’s a doer like no other from the fuksis of ‘24, though you might not be able to tell from a glance; there are a lot of similarities between us, but we’re also different in just the right amount such that we complement one another. I could not think of a better and more reliable pair as a Fuksi Captain.
Sara
Hello, my name is Sara and I’m a second year student of Automation and Robotics. The fuksi year swept me away from the very beginning and it was one of the best years of my life. Every day brought along new friends and experiences, and I learned just how big of an impact the guild and the community can have. Thanks to AS, I found myself a place to be my authentic self.
Being an ISO has been the best. It’s been great to be of help to the fuksis, answer their questions and see how much fun they have. It was fun to run a checkpoint and be a part of the fuksis’ journey during the Overall Adventure. The support and hype of my own Fuksi Captains were such a large inspiration to me, and it would be an honour to get to pass everything they gave me to the new fuksis.
Why Saku?:
Already when organizing Liukuhihna, I noticed that Saku handles his duties with confidence and a good vibe. That says a lot about his way of working efficiently, and precisely because of that, alongside him one can trust that things will get done. Our strong parts complement each other, and that’s why I believe that together we would make a balanced and functional pair as Fuksi Captains.
What do we want to do as captains!?
We think the most fundamental and important duty of the Fuksi Captains is to make sure that every fuksi could find their own place in Otaniemi, and this doesn’t necessarily mean just the guild. For most fuksis the first days/weeks are the hardest days, and we want to be the figurative stairs to help everyone get over the figurative hurdle. Additionally it’s important to make sure that there are opportunities to ease one’s way into the community, even if for whatever reason someone couldn’t make it to varASlähtö/orientation week. This doesn’t mean that already-formed friend groups must be broken up for every event, a more subtle and personal approach would serve best to nudge those who’ve fallen in between to get to know the more oriented fuksis. And generally encouraging everyone into taking care of each other, greeting others without prejudice and making sure that everyone has a place where they can feel welcome as their own selves.
Right on the tail of the above in order of importance is the duty to introduce the fuksis to teekari- and student culture, and we think that this would work the best by expanding the perspective all throughout the year: During the first weeks, fuksis are mostly getting to know their fellow guildmates, but after the orientation week it’s important to start getting to also know the other guilds in Otaniemi. In addition to this, during the previous years many fuksis might not have heard or understood the existence of our other capital area friendship guilds/associations; besides the guild-wide events arranged by the Culture Committee, it’d be super cool if during the year there were common fuksi events with Kannunvalajat and TYT (read: Tii Wai Tii). In short, we would like to expand AS fuksi events outside of Otaniemi and have more interdisciplinary events!
What about ASPU? We think that Kalle and Joel have done a phenomenal job with the direction of their ASPU this year. It’s so so important that people in such a crucial official role have access to all the necessary information and data, and that things are openly discussed between the captains and the committee. Also, the necessity of providing helping hands to the DSDeupty cannot be understated either, as the intake of DSD-students is also steadily on the rise.
Speaking of DSD, we feel it remains necessary to arrange more easygoing EN x FI events for the guild’s fuksis. For an example, there could be at least one more event like ASIC Afterparty Pre-party, where people of all languages have a chance to chill and have friendly competitions together. We think that it’s events like these that lower the threshold of getting to know the international students by just the right amount, and AS still needs improving in that regard.
At the end of the day, the reason we’re applying to get to carry such a great responsibility is due to the fact that we think AS is the greatest, teekkari culture is the best and it’s precisely the duty of the Fuksi Captains to give every single technology student that year-long push to help them make the most of their student years! Such a long, long time to be gone and a short time to be there
